Before Dr. Kai Matthiesen joined Metaplan, he was Managing Director of AltaVista in Germany. He also worked in various managing positions in family businesses. Amongst others he was responsible for SAP implementation and later on direct marketing at the French book club of Bertelsmann (France Loisirs).
Prior to that, he worked as a consultant for Booz Allen & Hamilton. He studied business and philosophy at Passau University and got a doctor's degree in business ethics at St. Gallen University.
